About Padang

Padang is actually an area potential for marine ecotourism. The lack of pulication to support the abundance natural resource and the scenic seascape is an obstacle for its underwater beauty to be known worldwide. Diving in Padang means exploring several fascinating shipwrecks and spectacular wall dropping down to the deep that can be admired by all certification levels divers. The journey to the dive sites may take a while, around 1-2 hours from the city by speedboat. Even though, the sites are worth visiting, not to mention the mysterious collection of shipwrecks and intriguing walls but also the visibility around 10-15 meters almost along year and the warm water around 28°-30°C. Gosong Padang is one site located in the western coast of Sumatera that require only 30 minutes speedboat ride to be reached. The site boasts a steam shipwreck lying on 10 m depth. The history of this ship is unclear but several parts of the wreck show some cutting mark. So it is assumed that the ship, which is sank not too far from Bayur Bay Port, had been plundered and some iron hulls had taken away from the site.
