The Scuba certification levels - Dive Instructor

A certified dive instructor is an individual who trains other aspiring underwater divers. The title specializes in demonstrating and engaging discussions with an individual student or in groups about safe scuba diving practices in order for them to feel confident in basic diving skills.

To gain an instructor title, you will generally have to partake in a two-part course: the Assistant Instructor course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor program, and undertake an Instructor Examination. Obtaining your instructor certification is earned by hard work and commitment. Divers will have to successfully complete their Assistant Instructor qualification prior to progressing to the next step.

The development course teaches you to conduct all core diving courses, where divers will have to demonstrate their skills in controlling open water dives and their ability to present information, carry out skill development sessions, and supervising student divers.

A Dive Guide who has been a certified diver for at least six months may start their Instructor journey. They will need to have 60 logged dives and 100 dives to sit an Instructor examination.
